2016 Futiga Regrant

Amerika Samoa Humanities Council offered a grant award of $5,000 to Futiga Methodist Youth to support their project entitled “Community and Parents Participation: No Child Left Behind.” This will be a two-fold project: 1.) Study-Center: that seeks to assist Elementary and High School students improve grades in the content areas of Math (Basic/General) and Science (Life, Behavioral and General) as well as understanding and comprehending text materials in both English and Samoan. 2.) Mini-National History Day where Participants register to research topics for presentation to prepare themselves to enter American Samoa National History in 2017. The project is to teach participants the process of researching topics, writing a process paper, use of primary and secondary sources and to develop presentation skills.
